“Well, that’s good that you three were able to work everything out.”

I didn’t think my cheeks could possibly get any redder, but they did. “They kind of walked me into it,” I explained. “It’s still a bit scary for me. I’m terrified that I’ll lose one of them at some point—or even both.” I drew in a deep breath. “They say it’s okay that I want both of them—that I um, need, both of them?” I said, though the last part came out as more of a question.

“Meghan, you went through something traumatic numerous times in your life,” Dr. Gresham told me. “Sometimes, people need more that just one person can offer, and that’s okay. There’s nothing wrong with that. All that matters at the end of each day is that the three of you are okay.”

“But this can’t be realistic in the long run, can it?” I asked him.

“It actually can.” Dr. Gresham said. “One of my other patients is actually in a relationship quite like yours. It wasn’t easy for her either, but the three of them have been together for almost four years now, and they’re perfectly happy and content.”

I pursed my lips. “Julian was always so . . . possessive. I don’t see how this will actually work out.”

“Julian has gone through his own changes,” Dr. Gresham informed me. I knew that, but it still confused me that he was okay with this. Because Julian’s possessiveness had been on a whole other level. “He probably hasn’t told you this, but he gave his psychologist permission to collaborate with me, which is why I finally decided that it was okay for you to go home with him. Julian loves you so much that he’s willing to do whatever is necessary to make sure that you’re taken care of.”

I sighed. “They’re letting me take this at my own pace.”

Dr. Gresham nodded in approval. “They’re good men, Meghan. They showed you that they both want you, that they’re both okay with sharing you. They’re not pushing you any further than that.”

I stayed quiet. Dr. Gresham took a seat on our normal bench, and I followed his lead, taking a seat next to him. My eyes locked on my rose bush. There was a new bud. I smiled. “It’s blooming,” I whispered.

Dr. Gresham nodded. “Everything blooms at its own rate, Meghan.”

The weather was pretty gloomy, but it was my favorite kind of day. After Axel had picked me up, he drove to one of my favorite parks, but with it sprinkling lightly, no one was out, and it was just us sitting in the car.

“Are you hungry?” he asked as he reached over and tucked my dark hair behind my ear.

“Not really,” I told him. “Mrs. Evelyn stuffed me with cupcakes while you were stuck in traffic,” I told him with a smile.

He laughed softly. “Her cupcakes really are the best.”

“I could probably make better,” I teased. Though I really doubted it. He wasn’t lying when he said her cupcakes were the best.

He leaned in close. “Oh, yeah?” he breathed, his minty breathing fanning my face. My heart began to pound faster in my chest.

I licked my lips, and his eyes darkened to an almost black color as they followed the movement of my tongue over my lips. My breath hitched in my throat. “Axel . . .” I whispered.

He wrapped his hand around the back of my neck and pulled my lips to his, kissing me hard and deep. I moaned as I reached up to tangle my fingers in his dark hair, pulling him closer to me.

He released a low grown as he palmed my breast. I arched my back, thrusting my chest further into his hand. “Fuck,” he hissed. He hauled me over his middle console so I was straddling his legs. His lips never left mine as he slid his seat all the way back, giving us some room. I moaned as his hands slid down my back, and a gasp left my lips as he squeezed my ass, grinding me against his hard cock.

“Axel,” I pleaded. I needed him. Oh, God, I fucking needed him.

“I know, sweet girl.” He ground me against him again. I tossed my head back, another gasp leaving my lips. He trailed hot open-mouthed kisses down my neck as I pushed down against him, desperate for friction. I wanted him as badly as I always craved for Julian, and that said something because I craved Julian like I craved my next breath.

“Christ, you’re beautiful.” He groaned as he slid his hands under my shirt and pulled it over my head. He quickly unsnapped my bra and pulled it off. I cried out his name as he bent his head and nipped at my nipple, a wicked grin on his lips. “So fucking sexy.”
