“I guess so.” Even though she’d come to realize all her friends were Little and even Davis was a member of the club, it still made her nervous.

“I think everyone is going to be there. Don’t worry about us. We’ll be there if you want to hang out with us in the Little area. Davis is going, isn’t he?”

Sue nodded. “I think he’s going to show me around.”

“Perfect. Go clock in. We’ll talk more later,” Ellie encouraged, waving her toward the back.

In the flurry of the day’s rushes, Sue had no time to worry about swimming. It hit her when the door jingled, and Davis entered. Instantly, butterflies attacked each other in her stomach.

He walked forward to look at her across the display counter. “Breathe. You’re okay.”

“I’ll be off in a few minutes. Riley ran back for an apron,” she chattered nervously.

“No rush. I’ve waited a long time for you. A few minutes will go by quickly.”

Davis winked and turned to stroll to a table by the door. He sat and pulled out his phone—a picture of patience.

“I’m here. You can go join that hunk,” Riley commented before adding, “You look green.”

“He’s taking me swimsuit shopping. I think I’m going to be sick,” Sue blurted.

Riley took her hand and squeezed it. “Swimming is fun. Men who shop are hard to find. Don’t overthink this. Where are you going?”

“Design Magic.”

“Nice. Gemma is awesome. You’ll like her and you’ll find something amazing,” Riley assured her.

Sue crossed her fingers. “Are you here tomorrow?”

“Yes. I want a full report,” Riley told her.

Nodding, Sue walked back to clock out. If she didn’t find anything she was comfortable in, she’d just tell Davis they needed to do something else. With that decision made, Sue grabbed her purse. She could do this.

“Hi.” Davis stood immediately as she appeared. “Ready to go?”

“Sure.” She tried to sound enthusiastic.

Davis linked his fingers with her and squeezed. Leading her out of Little Cakes with a flurry of waves, he led her past the big window to pull her into his arms. After a light kiss, Davis wrapped an arm around her waist, keeping her close.

Too soon, he pulled the door open to Design Magic. A beautiful woman with generous curves greeted him by name.

“Davis, I’m so glad to see you. Is this Sue?”

“It is, Gemma. Would you help her find a bathing suit?”

“Some gorgeous ones just came in. Come on, Sue. Let’s go have some fun.” The friendly woman put a guiding hand on Sue’s back. “Make yourself comfortable, Davis,” she called, waving at a coffeemaker and a small fridge of cold drinks.

Within twenty minutes, Sue stood in front of the mirror without panicking. Gemma had immediately assessed that she needed a different size for the top and bottom. When both fit perfectly, Sue didn’t feel like it was revealing anything it shouldn’t. No puckering or bulging.

“That’s very flattering,” Gemma said, peeking into the dressing room.

“I can’t believe it.”

“You’ve been shopping in the wrong places. There’s a matching cover-up.” Gemma tempted her with a semi-gauzy garment.

Redressed in her work clothes, Sue headed for the cash register to pay. Gemma handed her a beautiful bag.

“I snipped off the price tags for you. Come in and shop again. I have several outfits I’d love for you to try on,” the sweet saleswoman suggested.

“I’ll come back. Thank you, Gemma. I’ve been dreading this all day. You made it fun.”

“Littles shouldn’t stress. Life’s too short for that. Everything’s paid for. Have fun with your handsome escort.”

“Oh, no. I should pay for this.”

“It’s already taken care of. Ready to go?” Davis asked, coming up behind her.

“Yes.” Sue allowed him to guide her to the door but stopped after taking several steps to turn around and look at the shopkeeper.

“Littles?”

Gemma just winked at her and pointed to a well-loved bumblebee stuffie decorating the counter.

“You?” Sue looked at the lovely woman in surprise. How had she never known this community existed before working at Little Cakes?

“Shhh!” Gemma winked at her.

“Come on, Cherry,” Davis recaptured her attention.

Chapter Nine

“Damn, Cherry,” Davis complimented as she dropped the cover up by the side of the amazing pool in his backyard. Heat ignited his gaze as he stalked forward. He ran his hands over her shoulders and down her arms as he scanned her body. She could almost feel the scorching attraction as his gaze moved down her body.

“You look good, too,” she rushed to tell him, breaking the sexual tension that stretched between them.

That has to be the understatement of the century, she rebuked herself. Seeing Davis’s washboard abs and powerful form covered only by swim trunks was enough to fuel her fantasies for a long time.

“Let’s get in.” Davis jumped into the pool with a controlled splash and returned to the side to pat a towel he’d stretched out on the ledge.
