Adam broke away from the men to approach this time. “Rose, the Daddies have decided to make the hearts for all of you. While you choose your stuffies, we’re going to record messages on them.”

Kiki winced when she glanced at Terry to find his eyes dancing. She suspected they were being tricked and the messages were going to say something like, “Eat your vegetables,” “Naughty girls get spanked,” or “Don’t make me count to three.” It would be just like them.

Rose must have been thinking along the same lines because she gave her Daddy a narrow-eyed glare.

He laughed. “We’ll be nice. I promise.” He nodded toward the recording device, and the rest of the men joined him.

“Are you going to let us listen to the messages before we sew up the stuffies?” Avery asked. She was flat-out glaring at her Daddy. None of them felt like they could trust the men to not prank them.

“Nope. You’ll have to have a little faith,” Trace informed her.

All seven of them had an evil look on their faces. Either they’d discussed the plot before even arriving, or they’d just planned it now. Either way, it was devious.

When Kiki approached the bin of alligators and picked one up, she held it so she was looking the empty body right in the eyes. “You have my permission to bite his pinky finger off if he puts a mean message in you,” she whispered.

CC giggled next to her. “Yeah,” she told the zebra she picked up. “I hope you have sharp teeth, too.”

“Oh, he’s cute,” Kiki said as she nodded toward the zebra.

“I think so. I’m cheating off you. I have a boy zebra at home named Zigzag. I think he needs a mate.”

“Ah, so that one is a girl?” Kiki asked. You never know.

CC shrugged. “I’m not sure yet. Maybe Zigzag prefers men.”

Avery held up a hippo triumphantly. “This is going to be so much fun.”

Kiki agreed. As long as they could ignore the Daddies who were now huddled around the recording device. They better not be conspiring.

Chapter Five

Elizabeth

“I’m going with this caterpillar,” Elizabeth announced. “Since my Daddy owns a farm and I own a farm-to-market restaurant, it seems like there will be plenty of fresh foods to feed a hungry caterpillar. Plus, look how cute he is.”

Elizabeth held up the green stuffie with multicolored legs and smiled a broad smile that mimicked the caterpillar’s. He was adorable.

She glanced at Avery. “The hippo is cute, too, but I already have a hippo at home. I think I need a stuffie that’s the polar opposite.”

“I hope your hippo doesn’t step on the caterpillar and accidentally squish him,” Tatiana teased as she held up an armadillo. “I’m going with this guy because Sharpy the porcupine might poke him by accident if I don’t pick something with a hard outer shell.”

They all giggled.

Elizabeth couldn’t stop smiling. So far, this was the most fun she’d had in weeks. It was hard to get off work from Nibbles & Bites. She rarely had an evening off like this. Plus, her Daddy had been really busy with the farm lately.

She was secretly kind of glad he had come along with her because she liked it when he was close, and she really hoped he was recording something nice on the heart.

When he looked up and met her gaze, he smiled and winked. That could mean anything. She couldn’t read his expression to know what the men were conspiring.

She couldn’t wait until cupcake time. As a health-food nut, she still made it a point to eat plenty of sugary cupcakes, and her favorite was Sweet Tooth. It was mostly a plain ordinary cupcake without any fanfare, but that’s how she liked it. Sweetness overload.

It was so sweet of Tarson and Ellie to make everyone’s favorite for this party. That was a lot of batches of cupcakes that weren’t currently on the menu. Ellie was the best. And Tarson, too.

Elizabeth glanced over at Valerie who was quietly perusing the bins, tapping her lips. “What are you thinking?” Elizabeth asked her.

Valerie shrugged. “I’m not sure yet. I have a parrot at home. He’s so chatty. I think I need one that doesn’t memorize everything I say and yap at me all day. One of the hazards of working from home.” She giggled.

Being in Little space was so much fun. It made Elizabeth feel light and bouncy. She was so grateful to live in a community where there were so many Littles. She felt included and part of a special secret community with these women.

“We should do this more often,” Elizabeth suggested. She wished she had more time off. Nearly all of her friends had full-time jobs. Many of them owned their own businesses in town. That made it hard to find even one person not working when she wanted to have a game or movie night.
